HALLS CAFÉ
About This Spot
Stepping into HALLS CAFÉ on China Street, you’re gently embraced by a calm, unhurried rhythm that invites you to settle in and slow down. This two-story nook blends a quietly vibrant energy with a warmth that feels like a familiar retreat—a mix of thoughtful personal touches and the soft hum of conversations with friends or solo moments lost in a book or work. The café hums with casual comfort, a place where time feels just a little more generous.
Perched amid Kuching’s colorful city life, HALLS CAFÉ is more than just a stop for your daily fix; it’s a subtle journey through local flavors and relaxed conviviality. The distinct character comes alive with welcoming aromas and carefully crafted drinks that feel both authentic and gently playful. Whether it’s the richness of a dark mocha or the nuanced sweetness of a coconut green tea latte, each sip reflects an attention to detail that quietly honors its Sarawakian roots.
The atmosphere carries a delicate balance of familiar and unexpected. Soft-spoken baristas and a friendly owner offer a personal touch that makes you feel like part of a small community rather than just a visitor. Free-toen snacks and thoughtfully prepared titbits make lingering a pleasure—inviting you to slow down, savor, and soak up the surroundings without rush.
The interior itself feels inviting yet unpretentious, with a cat-themed charm faintly weaving through the subtle décor, making the space feel warm and whimsical. Whether you're upstairs enjoying a peaceful corner or seated near the shopfront with its open flow of natural light, the scene encourages a gentle pause, a moment to connect with the city—or simply with yourself.
In a city where cafes come and go, HALLS CAFÉ stands out quietly by offering an atmosphere reminiscent of a close-knit neighborhood spot: comfortable, authentic, and thoughtfully attentive to the simple joy of good coffee, honest food, and genuine human connection.

Best Cafe to visit at any weather. The vibrance and atmosphere so chill almost like you are treated at home. The owner was pretty chill and eager to serve you and the barista is soft spoken. The food is tasty and the drinks is authentic coffee The Sarawakian Pride engraved to the aesthetic brings so much joy as a local Price reasonable too but tbh it's much cheaper compare to other touristic cafe. Come here before it's too late! #sapotlokal #wecare4sarawak

The ambience is beautiful. I guess it's a CAT themed. For the food, i ordered the Sausage Bun. Delicious for snacking. I love my Coconut Milk Green Tea Latte (Cold), i request for No Sugar. Love the taste with a hint sweetness from the coconut milk, not from the added Sugar. Haven't try the noodles. They have variety of Noodles dish and Bun (Burger Sandwich). Not forgeting the FREE toast with homemade spread they make. The day i came, there was 2 flavour spread; Kit Kat & Horlick spread.

What an amazing concept! Halls Café masterfully combines local Kuching coffee culture with Taiwanese design sensibilities. The locally roasted coffee beans are exceptional, and inspired coffee preparations are innovative and delicious. The owners' genuine hospitality makes every visit special. Love the vibrant, photo-worthy atmosphere too! A must visit place and you will received their warmth smiles.

I’ve been to this cafe twice, and both visits were such heartwarming experiences. The first time, I went alone the music playing was so good, it made me stop strolling just to enjoy the vibe for a moment. I was warmly welcomed by the staff, who are actually a lovely family, and their hospitality is top tier. That day, I ended up making a new friend and had the chance to chat with the owner and her sons. All of them were super friendly, supportive, and honestly, so cute! I came back the very next day, not just because of the amazing service but also because the drinks and food were delicious and really affordable. The homemade toast spread? Chef’s kiss!! This place has such a cozy and genuine atmosphere, it already feels like my second home. Can’t wait to go back again!

Terjumpa this cafe during my walk at Kuching & the service was good (owner was super friendly!). I saw few details at the stair which was aesthetic The matcha latte was fine & gula apong matcha got really strong taste, some people might not like it The food was okay & customer got free tit bits which is great! The toast also free one per person who order drinks there. I got matcha toast > so sedap!
